HISTORY OF ENUGU CONNECT ASSOCIATION 042

Corona Virus was devouring the world,

People were looking unto God for survival, and the Pandemic locked the everyone down.

There was a dire need for survival, many engaged in exercises, some were on food diet, some were bathing in salt water, some converted whisky to water and many more depending on prayers. But there was a special group of people who instead started bringing their brothers together to ensure their wellbeing. These set of people are who we call today, the founders of Enugu Connect Association 042.

It all started from morning jogging at the shopping mall FESTAC where people from all conners of the state and people from different states jogged in the morning. Some of the people noticed that they spoke similar dialects, identification was made and fraternity formed. Among these founding members include Jude Izuchukwu, Kingsley Onyia, Tochukwu Okafor, Kevin Ifegbuike, Chukwudi Onuorah, Chigbo Emmanuel and many more.

These group of men agreed that there was a need to bring men of Enugu state origin living around Amuwo Odofin together for a meeting of brothers and message was sent across, invites made and a first meeting held in SAMPA HOTEL Amuwo Odofin hosted by Chief Kevin Ifegbuike who treated the attendees with sumptuous Abacha and drinks. It was during the meeting that it was stamped, and the association started in April 2021.

At first, it was restricted to only Enugu State indigens living around Amuwo Odofin but was extended to any male adult living in Lagos. On the 25th of September 2021 during a meeting hosted by Anthony Ikenna Anichebe, the first election was held and an Executive headed by Kevin Ifegbuike as the Chairman was elected. The inaugural Executive included Chukwudi Onuorah as the vice chairman, Nzekwe Chukwudi as the Secretary, Emmanuel Udeh as the assistant Secretary, Tochukwu Chigbo as the Financial Secretary, Kingsley Onyia as the Treasurer, Emeka Ujah as the provost, and Tochukwu Okafor as the welfare officer.

Today, the association has transcended the initial need of ensuring that members survived the pandemic and has increased in number from the inaugural thirty-two members to seventy-two members at the end of 2024.  As we move forward, our vision remains clear: projecting Enugu state and its indigenes globally, fostering business collaborations, establishing lasting legacies, and ensuring our members' happiness and well-being.
